unexpected london: tea & boots

The past two days have been an absolute dream! I don’t have many pictures of these days due to some camera glitches, but it’s now sorted out and the next post will be full of photos!

The eighth in London was our “lux” day. We woke up quite late (oops) and first headed out to Camden… I know, we’ve been there three times! But OH MAN if you’re in London, you just have to go! IT’s an absolute riot there. After browsing around the many stalls, Sophia and I walked to The Wolseley for afternoon tea.

The Wolesley was beautiful, and the tea was fantastic. Sophia and I exchanged a look of “uh oh, there’s a LOT of food here” after our first scone (with clotted cream and jam of course), but powered through the many delicious cakes, tarts, finger sandwiches, and other scones like champs, only admitting to defeat when we had about 4 items left on our tray. Despite stuffing ourselves to the point of feeling sick, afternoon tea at the Wolseley was wonderful.

The next day was spent wandering around Shoreditch and eating a simple, but delicious, breakfast. The cafe we were at was incredibly home-y and cute, and their food? Yum. I opted for the eggs and toast and Soph got avo toast. Shoreditch is known as a hipster area with quirky boutiques and fantastic nightlife.

Post wandering around Shoreditch, Soph and I decided to head over to Leicester Square for some relaxing and hanging out at the park. We also made an unexpected stop at M&M world and maaaaayyyy have gone a little overboard buying bags of M&Ms. We also ate gyros because YUM.

We also stopped at TKTS in Leicester Square to pick up some theatre tickets. Wicked, Jersey Boys, Mama Mia, Guys & Dolls, The Lion King, Charlie & the Chocolate Factory, and a bunch of other shows were available, but they were quite expensive and I have been fortunate enough to have seen some of the shows already. We decided to just pick Kinky Boots to see, as the tickets were less than 20 quid and I had heard good things about it somewhere…?

Well, let me tell you, Kinky Boots is AMAZING. INCREDIBLE. FABULOUS. It was hilarious and adorable and lively and full of the best energy! The dancing was phenomenal, the costumes were out of this world… I could rave on and on about it, but I’ll spare you 😉

If you can, see Kinky Boots. I promise you you’ll love it! Did I cry even though the show wasn’t sad? Embarrassingly, yes.

It was THAT good.

Today is our last day in London (!!!), so we’ve got a good day planned. Read about it on Friday! 🙂

Spread the love

Anya, so fun to follow your travels… You make it come to life. I saw Kinky Boots when it premiered in Chicago and even had the opportunity to tell Cyndi Lauper she had a hit on her hands. So glad you loved it too! I look forward to your next adventure. You’ve come a long way from block party shenanigans on Crystal Court!
