Going into Barcelona, I was afraid I wouldn’t like it. I have previously been to the city and loved it, but after basking in the beauty of the outdoors, I have started preferring nature to city.
Luckily, I still loved the city! Barcelona is an absolute beauty! I spent the 9 or so hours I had in Barcelona exploring some of my favorite touristy places.
La Rambla/ The Market
This street is so busy and crowded and energizing! It’s full of life and fun and smiles and it’s just wonderful to stroll down. There are stores, bars, cafes, and a whole bunch of other places to stop at if you need a little break from the heat. A word of caution, however! With crowded touristy gems, come pickpockets. Watch your stuff!
Make sure you stop at the market on La Rambla! Try the fresh juice and wander around the stalls! My favorite juice is mango coconut.
La Sagrada Familia
The heart of touristy Barcelona. This is a church designed by Gaudi, one of my favorite artists. His work is colorful, vibrant, and a little weird. The church is absolutely incredible to look at. The light streams through stained glass windows, creating a warm, ethereal, amazing glow that is impossible to do justice with words and photos! You have to see it in person. If you have time and are able, get the towers ticket, as you get a really detailed view of the church’s outside and also a nice view overlooking the city!
Other favorites are Park Guell, Montserrat (my parents obviously liked it enough to name my sister after it!), Casa Battlo, and the House of Bones!
