• unexpected london: tea & boots

The past two days have been an absolute dream! I don’t have many pictures of these days due to some camera glitches, but it’s now sorted out and the next post will be full of photos! The eighth in London was our “lux” day. We woke up quite late (oops) and first headed out to Camden… I know, we’ve been there three times! But OH MAN if you’re in London, you just have to go! IT’s an absolute riot there. After browsing around the many stalls, Sophia and I walked to The Wolseley for afternoon tea. The Wolesley was beautiful, and the tea was fantastic. Sophia and I exchanged a look…

  • unexpected london: picnics and palaces

After a night of eating pizza at midnight and drinking prosecco in bed, Sophia and I had a bit of a late start and headed out for lunch! Since before heading to London, I found a little takeaway food chain that I just knew I had to try, so we took the Tube to Moorgate and walked to Protein Haus. We bought our food and walked over to Pottersfield Park and had a little picnic lunch.   I bought a little packed meal of salmon, quinoa, and broccoli, as well as a Mars Protein Bar and a Snickers Protein Bar (because how cool?!). Sophia bought two protein shakes and a vegan salad. We…

  • unexpected london: punk & rock

I think our first two days in London were a little bit off, as both Sophia and I were jetlagged and a bit unsure of what to do and how to best explore London. Days three and four have been absolutely wonderful! Wednesday (day 3) was dedicated to the punk of Camden! Camden is a borough in London most well known for its out-there shopping and entertainment. Sophia and I just grabbed a quick breakfast at Viva Acai near the Gloucester Road Tube station. It took a while for the acai bowls to be made, but the woman there was very chatty and friendly, and the acai, although simple, was…

  • unexpected london: reunions and happiness!

Hellooooo from London! The past couple days have been absolutely lovely, yet still incredibly bittersweet. Let’s start with Monday. At 3:40am, I woke up and finished packing up. At around 4am, my sister and I said goodbye to our dad and hopped in a taxi to Changi. The past year, I’ve been at Changi 18 times, and it’s weird knowing that my 19th trip won’t be met with a 20th. Saying bye to Dad was short, which may have been a good thing. Any longer to say goodbye probably would have ended in lots of tears on my part. It’ll be five months without seeing him, and although I’ve spent…
