    Is Badenfahrt Worth the Trip?

Badenfahrt is a decennial 10 day festival in Baden, Switzerland, just outside of Zurich. It's supposedly one of the most crowded events in Switzerland, with people rushing from all over the country to this small town. Is it worth the trip up? This post covers it all.

    unexpected lucerne

Yesterday, I ended up in Luzern, and I fell in love with it, in spite of the very cold, very gloomy weather. I started my morning out in Basel with a quite train ride chai tea latte and a cheeky chocolate chip bun. The train ride was about one hour, and the second I stepped off the train, I was hit with a bone chilling gust of wind. It was absolutely freezing. I was especially thankful for planning the KKL art museum as my first stop in Lucerne, and even better, the museum was right next to the train station, so I could dodge the cold for a bit. The KKL museum is incredible……

    unexpected zurich

Do your research, kids, or you’ll end up spending your day wandering around aimlessly, just as I did. Wandering around aimlessly, although it can be slow and sleepy, can also make for seeing some really interesting things. Yesterday I went to Zurich. It was only an hour train ride from Basel, and as soon as you hop off at the Zurich HBF, you’re right at the Bahnhofstrasse, a major shopping street. unexpected conversations (basel)

It’s only 1:17 pm but I am having the most fabulous day, so of course I’m going to throw up a blog post. My father is away climbing with our family friend, Peter, for the day, so I have the day to myself. When I woke up, I decided to hit the gym, and after that painfully long hour, I scarfed down a peach and headed into town. I started exploring and was fascinated with all of the little details Basel hides that go completely unnoticed in day to day life. Whether that be a banana spray painted on the wall or beautiful architecture, the details all took my breath away.…

    unexpected rainy days (basel)

Today I learned a couple things. Umbrellas are lifesavers. No, your oxfords are not waterproof. Small puddles next to you seem infinitely bigger when a truck splashes through said puddle. Today was very wet. Rain is not the best while traveling, let me tell you. I woke up quite early because my Dad had a 6am business call. After lounging around and eating breakfast (vanilla yogurt with peach, banana, and granola!), I decided to go out and do something. This is where lesson one occurred. I had given my dad my umbrella so he could get to work and of course, as soon as I stepped outside, it started sprinkling. Luckily, it…
